Wicca Symbols
The Symbols used in Wicca are diverse, and eclectic. Judeo-Christian, Egyptian, Greek,
Chinese, the art of Symbolism is ever-eclectic in Wicca. I’ve picked several commonly used symbols, and I give a brief description of their usage. Personal symbols, such as a specific Mage’s name rune, are sigils, whereas symbols of a God or other non-human are Symbols or (incorrectly) Runes.
Celtic Cross (occasionally the Bottom spike is extended to reflect a crucifix): The Wheel of The Year, Four Elements, Celestial Family, Four elements as a single fifth element. Also represents the solar wheel, medicine wheel, and numerous other non-Celtic things, very versatile.
Circle: Represents cycles, the moon, unity.
Crescent Moon: Represents (Waxing) the Goddess Diana, maidenhood. (Waning) Hecate,
Cronehood: A blue crescent moon was the underground mark of Wiccan Friendly businesses in some cities several years ago. These days, I know of two businesses with a crescent moon on their doors, both for other reasons.
Eye of Horus/Eye of Time/Third Eye/Spirit Eye (Egyptian and Greek): Represents the Eye of the Egyptian God Horus, (who is also Greek Horae,) God of Time and Divination. Represents the Third Eye and the psyche.
Horned Moon: Represents the hunter God and maleness, also the Goddess Diana.
Infinity symbol/ Moebius Strip Represents: Cycles, infinity, Totality. Magic, Birth, rebirth.
Ahnk: Sex, Birth and rebirth, divine Power, especially divine female power.
Pentagram: A Pentagram is the two-dimensional five pointed star, as opposed to a Pentacle, which is a three-dimensional representation of a Pentagram. Two points up, the pentacle represents The horned god, but also has been used to represent “Satan” a Judeo-Christian God of Evil. Because of this negative use, many Wiccans only use the feminine, one point up pentacle. Symbols seem to carry energy from user to user, and the negative energy on the “upside down” pentacle is almost as strong as that of the Swastika, another once-positive symbol taken and perverted to near impossible positive use. Most Wiccans only use the feminine pentacle.
Trident Represents: Neptune, Amphitrite, Aegir, other ocean Gods and Goddesses, also The Triple Divinity, especially the Male Triple divinities.
Triple Moon: Represents: The female triple divinity, esp. Hecate, Selene, Diana.
Wicca Sigils
Sigils are created by combining the letters of your name into a single design. Much leeway is allowed with sigils, where the individual letters may be bent, reversed or otherwise altered to achieve a distinct pattern. This is most commonly done with runes by Wiccans, but is really much the same as a custom monogram. (meaning Single symbol, “not initials”.)
Creating a Sigil is a great way to mark your tools and other personal items. The power it has relies on the power you give it. Experiment with Runes and other writings until you find a Sigil that fits. Have fun!

So, my best friend is a wiccan from birth, so i guess i know a lot about it from her. But i have a question, so my older brother is seeing ‘things’, he has a wraith that protects him, and he can tell whats going to happen up to a week into the future, but does that have to do anything with wicca? my friend is in the netherlands for a month, and can’t reach her.

I have had many natural encounters with wiccan beliefs when I was younger. To many to over look. So I then desided to embrace the way the world was naturaly taking me. I am here now just really getting into what I have been destine to believe. I have just gotten married to a man that has his own set of faith he calls Guardianism. If you have any insite for him to find out more and for me also because i have a lot of knowledge and natural talents in ways I just have no guidence perhaps please tell me the best way about this I live in Colorado if that gives any insite.

I know you will probably never post this, or it will be deleted really fast but I am having trouble understand why American’s think that Wicca is a religion to be practiced by what you learn from new age books and new age teachers. I don’t mean any disrespect to you or your religion, but I am a 37th generation true Wiccan from Sicily. I have 13 books writen by my ancestors about their Wicca experiences. Not one of those books were written after 1514 and none acknowledges spell work, chanting, or potion making. You Americans and Europeans think it is witchcraft, but it is NOT. True Wicca is being one with nature and nature being one with you. There is no chanting, spells, or potions. Neither is there alchamy. But there is herbalism and meditation. You all have been watching too many cult movies. Spells, chanting and potions are all practiced in Pegan religions. True Wicca does not and will not have anything to do with Pegan, Hindu, Myan or any other Pegan based religions. It is funny that you all honestly think that what you are practicing is Wicca. It is an insult to Wicca and should be banned. Your whole religion is based off a psycopath named Alister Crawley, who if you studied his life, should have been thrown into a mental institution at the age of 12 when he started his psycotic notions. You all state that Wicca started in England. In all due respect, Wicca started in ancient Mesopotamia.
Mogelthor // May 5, 2009 at 1:55 am
Did the words of a true 37th generation Wiccan hurt your feelings and you had to delete it. Your are a typical Pegan site. Have to delete something that you know to be true just to save your followers. Go figure.

I personally think that bloodlines aren’t really that important… Some people are born gifted and some are not… Bloodlines are more for people who like to have titles and brag about it…. It’s kind of foolish…
Mogelthor // May 6, 2009 at 1:06 am
I knew you would not post my responses because it didn’t fit into the false teachings you are trying to convey as Wiccan. I have seen too many sites that make Wicca look bad by false teachings. My response was a question that I was hoping you would be able to explain to me. But, unfortunately you must be like all the other sites and only allow postings that help your site and not question it. This site will not post anything that raises questions about the false Wicca you are teaching. Due to the fact that you rejected my postings because it might have burst your bubble, and because of your false teachings, I am now adding your site into my book and onto my site as false doctrine. I will no longer put another posting on here, as they will not get accepted anyhow.
Mogelthor, 37th generation TRUE WICCAN.

I keep trying to find information about wicca and what exactly the beliefs is..I’ve done a lot of research but everything I’ve found so far has only confused me more, and since I’m very confused on my religion specifics already I was just wondering if maybe wicca was the piece that is missing.
So If any of you can help I’d rlly appreciate it

interesting. i am a single practicing wiccan by choice. i don’t know if that counts, but i believe in what i do. i didn’t realize schools were online, but i learned alot from a friend and past internet research. i have a few books. i have an altar that when i feel it needed, i light a white candle…probably every day. the triquatra is a great source of strength for me personally. that’s not it, but i wanted to share. i draw, paint and write, mostly poetry…a few short stories. I hardly ever get online, but i was searching for wiccan symbols to draw and stumbled across this site. blessed be to all.
harm ye none.

Hmm.. Im barely beginning to stumble apoun this religon and noticed that it really fall in harmoniously with how i have always felt and believe.. I dont so much believe in the spell in potion things but most everything else yes.. I was wanting to know that side of it i was wanting to know where i could actually read up on old books on it the beginning really. such books as Mogelthor says he has.. If you could enlighten me a bit i would be thankful. if anyone else could enlighten me on other sources for that i i would be grateful for that as well…
Rebecca // Sep 25, 2009 at 1:11 am
I am a solo practicing witch and I do my research online to make myself know more of the craft.
Personally…I am the only person in my family that is capable of learning wicca very quickly…I catch up on things easily.
My mum and dad arent wiccan but two or five people are. I found this out when I was just about at the age of 7 and I have been learning Wicca ever since.
blessed be to all.
Please comment to me about this comment I have left.

I have been seeing things lately, not normal things like I can actually see into the future. I know when people are going to die in freak accidents or get sick. I told my grandmother about it because she is almost pure Native American. She said it could have something to do with my ancestry with Wiccans. What is the next step to take? Should I try wicca and see if im any good at it or just lock myself up in a straight jacket right now?

Me and my sister in Wicca have been practicing every form of magic for much time now. After experiencing the aftermath of black magic, we’ve decided to turn over to white magic only. We use our abilities to help those who can not help themselves. My sister is more familiar with the earthy elements than myself. If anyone ever needs any advice, or any help with anything involving magic , our email is posted. Spells and magic can bring about very perilous events if not preformed properly. If you have any doubts… don’t do it. Please, feel free to contact us.
May your soul be un touched,
Sincerely, The Unspoken Ones
